Springtime Camping

Two weekends ago we decided to get away for a weekend of desert camping in the Indian Creek Recreation Area just outside of the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.  Canyondlands is only a couple of hours away, which is really nice when you are yearning for warmer weather as springtime is always so slow coming in the mountains.  The boys had a great time and really enjoyed the desert, plus Nicole was great and didn't complain once about spending mother's day out camping.

We had the boys pack their own toys.  Jacob apparently thought we were going to the wild west.

On Friday after we got there, Jacob hunted lizards around the campsite and we all  played in the creek.  The creek was just down the hill from our campsite and was perfect for wading and playing with the kids.  It even had a nice little beach.  By the time we were done we were all pretty soaking wet (and sandy) from a big waterfight.

On Saturday, the boys and I rode our bikes while Nicole drove behind us on a jeep road to the Colorado River overlook.  The road was pretty sandy at the beginning, which the boys didn't like, but it had some fun riding as it went on.

Sunday was Mother's day so Jacob and Alex made cards for Nicole (who also got a steak and wine dinner after we got home....I'm not a complete cad).
