We went to the La Plata County Fair here in town. The boys loved the rides and seeing all of the farm animals in the 4-H competitions. The boys are finally old enough that they enjoy all of the crazy spinning type rides - Jacob did pretty much every ride, although Alex didn't want to do the one that went upside down. I had told them the story of when I was a kid and Uncle Craig spun the Teacups really hard and made me puke at the Sedgwick County Fair, and this was a clearly facinating and a running topic of conversation with them. You'll notice that the only ride I'll go on these days is the Ferris Wheel.
We also went over to Vallecito Lake, which is up the road about 15 miles from our house, and went canoeing. Jacob and Alex were a little disappointed that we didn't rent a motorboat (we'd done that last summer in Glacier National Park and let them drive the boat). They didn't care for my notion that canoeing would be more peaceful and better exercise.
